Upcycled is an installation of thin, handmade paper flakes.
The paper was made from old drawings I had made and rejected, as a reaction on the constant self criticism common among artist. From the violent action of making artworks in to pulp, I tried to create something new, fragile and temporary, but hopefully with more value.
This work is the starting point of my curiosity for working with abstract sculptural shapes and materiality in relation to spaces.
The paper was mounted on custom-made nails in different lengths.
The text hatched on the right side is the defnition of upcycling:
The process of converting waste materials or useless products into something of better quality, higher environmental, economic or artistic value.
The project was first shown in Oslo spring 2012 and found a new form in Bratislava at the end of 2012.
